Drophead Coupe makes waves in Detroit
CAR Online brought you the first pictures of the new open-top Phantom and exclusive video footage last month, but this £260,000 monster still stole the Detroit show when Rolls-Royce chairman Ian Robertson officially unveiled it in what will be by far its biggest market. The 100EX concept on which the production car is based stole the 2004 Geneva show too, and features which we all thought would only be seen on the concept, such as the teak ‘decking’ on the hood cover and the rear-hinged suicide doors, have made it to the finished car. Production starts at Goodwood this summer.
Porsche has topped off the 991-generation 911 range with a new Turbo and Turbo S model. The forced-induction 911 is the fastest Turbo yet, mixing Ferrari 458 levels of power with new chassis technology from the hardcore 911 GT3. What are the new Porsche 911 Turbo’s performance stats?
Vauxhall Astra GTC - looks good
Vauxhall has certainly got some mileage out of the launch of the 2012 Vauxhall Astra GTC. As has Opel for the launch of their differently badge version of GM’s Euro-hot-hatch, designed to take on the likes of the VW Scircoco. Since the Astra GTC was revealed at Paris last year we’ve had the expected dance of the seven alloys as Vauxhall reveals a bit more with each bit of news.
